Reality check for future entrepreneurs

Creating a successful business is more a journey than a one-off event.

It doesn’t just happen overnight.

Nearly every time it takes longer than you think it will.

Nearly every time it takes more effort and resources than you planned or imagined it will.

It is a lot of things, but one thing it isn’t is a push-button solution.

How to get rich quick…

A lot of people, when they think about creating a business, really want a push-button solution. They want something that will help them become rich overnight.

There are lots of get-rich-quick-schemes out there, and I mean lots!

A Google search of “how to get rich quick” returned 732,000,000 results.

That’s 732 million results…

It’s insane!

People want shortcuts. But if you want to build something great, fortunately (or unfortunately, in case you were looking for a shortcut), your efforts have a direct correlation to your results.

Work (Smart) + Plan = Results

You get out of life what you put into it.
You get out of life what you put into it

You will get what you put in. In the same spirit, if you don’t put any effort into it, you won’t get anything out either.

That’s not to say you can’t work smart, and I will write more about strategies that will help you to work smart and hack your results over the coming days.

So what I’m talking about here is working smart, but that still involves work.

Prepare yourself for what lies ahead

Failing to plan is planning to fail
Failing to plan is planning to fail

A successful business depends as much on solid execution as it does on following a solid plan. But you’ll still need to work for it.

So before you start anything, before you embark on the grand journey that is creating a business, give yourself a reality check – because it will take work and effort. It will not come easy. There will be days when you’ll feel like giving up, there will be challenges and setbacks.

But the end result is something incredible.

The end result can be you living the life of your dreams.

And that’s worth it.

Thoughts…?

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. Especially, let me know if you’ve had business ideas that you’d like to work on, but haven’t yet.

If not, why not? What’s stopping you?
